A woman from Kula has died as a result of a single-vehicle wreck Friday in Kula.

Maui police have identified her as Carmencita Goble, 84.

According to police, Goble suffered critical injuries when the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek she was driving went off the roadway while coming around a bend a mile south of Keokea Place, hit a dirt embankment and partially overturned.

Goble was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She died Saturday.

Goble was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck. The investigation is ongoing.

Goble’s death is Maui County’s 17th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 14 at the same time last year.
