Haiku burglary suspect faces federal drug charges
The man arrested in a string of burglaries that targeted women in the Haiku community is now facing federal drug charges.
Maui police previously said the suspect, identified as German Zboron, 36, remained in custody following his arrest in connection with the Haiku burglaries, and that authorities were coordinating with federal partners.
On Friday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Hawaii said Zboron has been charged with crimes related to dealing fentanyl and cocaine as a result of the investigation into a string of sex crimes.
The attorney’s office linked the charges to Operation Relentless Justice, a nationwide effort that the attorney’s office says lead to the arrest of 293 child sex abuse offenders and the rescue of more than 205 children.
The attorney’s office also connected two other recent arrests in Hawaii to the nationwide operation, including Rumaldo Valdez, who was charged with possession of child sexually explicit material related to an online group that produced and distributed the material online.
The attorney’s office said Valdez pleaded guilty Oct. 24 and is awaiting sentencing.
Additionally, youth volleyball coach Elias David was charged with production of child sex abuse material after investigators uncovered videos showing him engaging in sexual conduct with a minor whom he coached.
