Legends of Lahainaluna honors education-related work

Retired athletic director Alan Kawaguchi and retired administrator Marion Muller were among those recognized at the annual Legends of Lahaina awards dinner organized by the Lahainaluna High School Foundation.
Kawaguchi is also a former special education teacher, and Muller, a former counselor and registrar.
The Lahaina Restoration Foundation was also honored as a business partner. The award was accepted by Executive Director Theo Morrison.
The foundation also recognized Elizabeth “Betty” Sakamoto as director emeritus for her years of service.
Posthumous awards honored Ted “Boss” Kawamura, who led the Agriculture Learning Center and the Future Farmers of America group. Yaeko Kawamura and her son Mark accepted the award.
Foundation president Mark Tillman assisted with the presentations, and Executive Director Art Fillazar served as master of ceremonies and event coordinator.
Board members in attendance included Myrna Ah Nee, Matthew Erickson, Lisa Francis, Laurie Kam DeGama, Susan Yap and Director Emeritus Rob Shelton
Lahainaluna High School is the oldest American school west of the Rockies.
