Maui churches welcome residents, visitors to celebrate Christmas Eve

With Christmas almost here, Maui churches are encouraging the entire Maui community to gather at one of the many Christmas Eve services that are occurring throughout the island.

Maui’s churches are hosting Christmas Eve services across the island, inviting everyone to join in the message, many with post-service fellowship with food and beverages.

Hope Chapel Maui in Kihei at 300 E. Welakahao Road will host its annual Christmas Eve services at 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. Child care will be available at the 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. services, allowing all ages to hear the Christmas story. Candlelight services will be at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Following the service, attendees can enjoy food and beverages while connecting with the community.

The Awakening Church in Kihei at 650 Lipoa Parkway is inviting people to its Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m., filled with worship, crafts for kids, cookies and a heartfelt message to celebrate the season.

On Christmas Eve, King’s Cathedral at 777 Maui Veterans Highway in Kahului also will be hosting family-friendly Christmas Eve services at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. With its centralized campus, King’s provides a welcoming setting to celebrate the holidays with powerful worship and an inspiring sermon.

In Wailuku, Unity on Maui Church at 483 S High St. will share the Christmas story and look to spread hope with its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

In Makawao, Upcountry Calvary at 1043 Makawao Ave. will host a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. A potluck-style meal will be served after the service, and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share.

At Makawao Union Church at 1445 Baldwin Ave., there will be a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 8 p.m., with worship led by Martha-Lee Bohn. Everyone is welcome to join, listening to the message and participating in songs sung by both the congregation and worship team on this special night.

On West Maui, Harvest Maui at Kumalani Chapel, 2140 Village Road in Lahaina, will host two Christmas Eve services in its sanctuary at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. With a newly built campus, the congregation is extending a heartfelt invitation to residents and visitors alike to join in the celebration.

In Kaanapali, locals, workers and West Side residents are coming together for a Christmas Eve worship service at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Beginning at 9:30 p.m., the Rev. Laki Ka’ahumanu will lead the service under the stars in the Hale Hema Courtyard, with a special hula performance as part of the celebration.
