Akaku Maui Community Media will kick off its 2026 Akaku Upstairs Salon Series with a critique of the top films of 2025 with the Hawaii Film Critics Society.

The salon will be moderated by Barry Wurst, who founded the film critics society. He will be joined by local film critics Jaren Agbannaoag and Aron Medeiros.

Trailers from “Chief of War,” “Frankenstein,” “Avatar,” “Snow White” and more will be played. The salon will also take a look ahead at films in 2026.

The salon will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 15 at Akakū Upstairs at 333 Dairy Road, suite 204, in Kahului. Register at www.akaku.org/salons.
