Hawaii attorney general probes alleged incident involving ‘influential state legislator’
Gov. Josh Green says the state is investigating an alleged incident involving an unnamed “influential state legislator” who accepted approximately $35,000.
The governor’s office says the investigation comes after federal authorities agreed to share evidence with state officials related to “an ongoing federal matter.”
According to the governor’s office, federal authorities informed state officials on Jan. 16 they would provide evidence concerning the alleged incident, and that “provided a clear path for the attorney general to proceed without jeopardizing the ongoing federal investigation.”
The governor’s office said neither the governor nor the attorney general will comment further to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
