The Lahaina Restoration Foundation reported that more than 200 people attended a free concert on Jan. 29 that marked the Hawaiian Music Series’ return to Lahaina.

The concert featuring Maui musician Joshua Kahula was held on the lawn at Waiola Church on Waine’e Street, and it was a special moment.

“Bringing our beloved Hawaiian Music Series back to Lahaina is a meaningful milestone for LRF,” said Theo Morrison, executive director of the foundation. “This return was approached with deep care and respect for our community’s healing process. The generosity, collaboration and sheer joy we witnessed were incredibly moving. You could feel the emotion in the crowd — everyone felt what it meant to come back to Lahaina together.”

Now in its 18th year, the Hawaiian Music Series is supported by the Maui County Office of Economic Development with Waiola Church providing the venue for the 2026 season at no cost.

The next concert for the Hawaiian Music Series will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26, and the series will continue with family-friendly free concerts on the last Thursday of every month throughout 2026 at Waiola Church. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back beach chairs to enjoy the music.
