Maui film commissioner to speak at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset

On Jan. 6, Brian Kohne, the Maui film commissioner and program coordinator for the Creative Media Academy at the University of Hawaii Maui College, will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset meeting.
Kohne is expected to share the latest about the island film industry and plans for the Wailuku film festival, which launches in June.
Kohne is an award-winning motion picture writer, director and producer, music producer and playwright. A 1982 Baldwin High graduate and Art and Radio/TV/Film alumnus of San Jose State, he returned home to Maui in 2005 from Silicon Valley.
The meeting will be held at the YMCA West Side Resource Center, in the old Tamura’s building in Emerald Plaza at 226 Kupuohi St. in Lahain. The social period will begin at 5 p.m., with the meeting program scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Attendees are invited to contribute a potluck item for sharing during the social period.
