The Maui County Fire Department rescued two people from a sinking kayak offshore from Papalaua Beach Park on Saturday.

According to the department, a 37-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were picked up about a half-mile offshore by a jetski and brought safely to shore. Both declined medical treatment.

The jetski also recovered the kayak and returned it to shore.
