Authorities responded to a 42-foot catamaran moored approximately 300 yards off the Mala Wharf in Lahaina that was taking on water and sinking Thursday.
According to the Maui Fire Department, one person aboard the boat was helped to shore by another vessel and required no medical attention.
Maui Fire and Ocean Safety personnel checked the vessel to confirm no one remained on board.
The incident was turned over to Maui police, the Department of Land and Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the vessel remained partially afloat in the same location.
