Pet insurance aims at purr-fection

Hawaii state lawmakers won’t tolerate pet owners barking up the wrong tree when it comes to insurance.

Act 079 took effect on Jan. 1, 2026, which establishes a regulatory framework specifically for pet insurance based on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ Pet Insurance Model Act.

Its goal is to make pet insurance consistent and renewable.

Once you have a policy, a pet insurer is not required to conduct a veterinary examination of the covered pet for the consumer to renew the policy.

Starting at $4.62/week.
