Nonprofit distributes record number of meals in December
The nonprofit group Hale Kau Kau in Kihei served a record 5,785 free meals in December.
The meals included 373 for its Christmas Day Lunch and 3,366 meals delivered to seniors and those with disabilities, according to Hale Kau Kau.
The nonprofit has been feeding people since 1991. Those who wish to become sponsors giving $500 or more in support of the food program may have their name or logo added to the events programs. For more information, go to halekaukau.org.
