A 69-year-old man from California died Saturday after he lost consciousness while snorkeling at Makena Landing.

On Monday, Maui police identified the man as Frank Archuleta Jr. of Huntington Beach, California.

According to the police, bystanders brought Archuleta to shore after he lost consciousness in the water and immediately began life-saving measures.

First-responders arrived shortly after and took over the life-saving measures, but those measures were unsuccessful.

Police said the preliminary investigation reveals no signs of foul play. An autopsy also has been scheduled.
