Power restored to West Maui

As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, Hawaiian Electric had restored power to all West Maui circuits affected by the Public Safety Power Shutoff program.

According to Hawaiian Electric, all customers who can have power restored safely should have electricity at this time. However, additional repairs to address damage may be necessary before service can be restored for some West Maui customers.

The utility said crews will inspect and make minor repairs throughout the night Tuesday.

Customers who are still without power in Maui County should call Hawaiian Electric to report the outage at 1-855-304-8181 if they haven’t already done so.

Although high winds have eased, Hawaiian Electric said it will continue to closely monitor the weather.

If hazardous conditions suddenly return, it may be necessary to shut off the power again in West Maui to reduce the risk of wildfire.

Starting at $4.62/week.
