Up to $2,000 available for Maui County student projects in water, food innovation
Money is available for Maui County students who are interested in designing and building local solutions for water harvesting and sustainable food production.
Selected teams may receive up to $2,000 in reimbursable funds for materials and other project-related expenses from the Empowering Youth through Innovation for Maui Nui’s Future grant program, which is being offered through the University of Hawaii at Manoa College.
Supported by a grant from the Maui County Department of Agriculture, middle school, high school and undergraduate students are being challenged to develop small-scale projects that can capture, store or reuse water, particularly from the air, or that reimagine food production through vertical or container-based agricultural systems.
All participants must be guided by a mentor, such as a teacher, parent or professional with engineering or agriculture experience. The deadline to apply is March 31. For more info, go to tinyurl.com/pp6jvr56.
