Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mousetrap’ opens March 27 at Iao Theater
Maui OnStage will present Agatha Christie’s mystery play “The Mousetrap” from March 27 through April 12 at the historic ‘Iao Theater in Wailuku.
First performed in London in 1952, “The Mousetrap” is the world’s longest-running play.
The story follows a group of strangers stranded at Monkswell Manor during a snowstorm who discover a murderer may be among them.
The production transports audiences to 1950s England, with scenic designer Caro Walker and technical director Amanda Dellinger transforming the stage into the wood-paneled manor house where the mystery unfolds. Costume director Jennifer Oberg designed period-inspired wardrobe reflecting the era.
Director Kristi Scott said the play combines humor and suspense as the story develops and the characters’ secrets are revealed.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Tickets range from $10 to $45 and are available at mauionstage.com.
