Bissen’s State of the County Address coming March 5

Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen

Mayor Richard T. Bissen Jr. will present the 2026 State of the County Address from 5 to 7 p.m. March 5 inside the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.

According to the mayor’s office, Bissen’s priorities for 2026 will focus on advancing kamaʻāina housing solutions, as well as continuing wildfire recovery efforts that prioritize housing stability, infrastructure and community-led rebuilding.

Other priorities include supporting residents’ well-being through investments in mental health, families, kupuna and youth, protecting cultural and natural resources and strengthening economic development by supporting local businesses, workforce pathways and a balanced visitor industry.

This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 4 p.m.

The State of the Community also will be broadcast live on Akakū Maui Community Media Channel 53, livestreamed on the County of Maui Facebook page and available at www.mauicounty.gov, www.youtube.com/@countyofmaui and www.Akaku.org.
