The Maui County Department of Housing is seeking applications from qualified nonprofit organizations for projects under its Experimental and Demonstration Housing Projects Fund to develop select county-owned land.
A pre-bid meeting will be held online at 10 a.m. April 1 at tinyurl.com/mr35td4c.
The program is intended to support new approaches to addressing the county's housing crisis by using public land and nonprofit partnerships. Projects must provide housing for families earning 80% of the county's area median income or less.
The fund was established to support the development and expansion of experimental housing projects and to research ways to reduce housing costs statewide. Applicants must comply with Chapter 16.28 of Maui County Code, qualify as a nonprofit under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, and demonstrate experience in housing design and construction.
Application materials are available at mauicounty.gov/housing under the "Hot Topics" section. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. April 30.
