Maui County mayor to host community meetings on storm damage

Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen will hold a series of community meetings in the coming days for residents Upcountry and in Iao Valley, South Maui, Molokai and West Maui to discuss the impacts of the recent kona storms.

A community meeting also is anticipated for Molokai.

Staff from the departments of Public Works, Environmental Management, Water Supply, Emergency Management and ʻŌiwi Resources will attend to provide response updates and help with any questions.

The meetings are scheduled as follows:

• Upcountry — 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Hannibal Tavares (Pukalani) Community Center, 90 Pukalani St.

• Iao Valley — 10 a.m. Sunday at Iao Valley at the former botanical garden site

• South Maui — 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kihei Community Center, 303 E. Lipoa St.

• West Maui — 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria, 871 Lahainaluna Road. The monthly Lahaina Community Meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to discuss impacts of the kona storms.

The date and location for the Molokai meeting is to be determined, and will be announced at a later time.
