Flooding has forced the closure of South Kihei Road is closed in both directions, between North Kihei Road and Uwapo Road until further notice, Maui County said this afternoon.

The county said updates will be provided as the information is received.

Several other roads have also been closed, following continued rain and erosion on Maui, Maui County officials said this afternoon:

• Piilani Highway #31, is closed in the area of Nuu Landing, around Mile Post Marker 30 until further notice. This is due to the river flooding.

• Road is closed between 5321 Lower Kula Road and 5360 Lower Kula Road until further notice, due to flooding.

• Haleakala Crater Road, (HWY 378) from Kekaulike Ave., is closed to local traffic until further notice, due to multiple downed trees.

• Olinda Road is currently closed at Hanamu Road., and all traffic is being diverted onto Hanamu Drive at this time until further notice.

• Hanakai Road in Kahului is completely closed due to flooding. The road will be closed until further notice, due to the upcoming storm.
