Aloha FurEver Pets Foundation achieves 501(c)(3) nonprofit status

The Aloha FurEver Pets Foundation, a Maui-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in the community, has become a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
Achieving nonprofit status marks an important step forward for the foundation. As a registered nonprofit, the foundation can accept tax-deductible donations, apply for grants and expand its outreach efforts.
"By becoming a 501(c)(3), it allows us to build on what we've started in a more meaningful and sustainable way," said Wendy Hornack, president and founder of Aloha FurEver Pets Foundation. "This recognition helps open doors for funding, resources and continued collaboration, all of which directly benefit the animals and community we serve."
Founded by community members, the foundation's mission is to provide accessible, compassionate care for Maui's animals while supporting the people who love them.
Since its inception, the organization has focused on hosting spay and neuter clinics, connecting resources and working with local partners to address the needs of community cats and underserved animal populations.
The organization said it plans to continue hosting clinics, growing its volunteer network and developing new programs that support animal welfare and community education.
"This has truly been a community-driven, passionate effort," said Tamara Goebbert, the foundation's secretary and public relations officer. "We're incredibly excited and grateful for the support we've received so far, and we're excited for what's ahead."
