Lā Davida Malo 2026 set for April 25 at Lahainaluna High School
For more than six decades, Lahainaluna High School has carried on the traditions of Davida Malo, a graduate of the school and Hawaiian scholar, while honoring the legacy of those who came before and the kuleana to perpetuate the tradition for generations to come.
Lā Davida Malo 2026 will be from 5 to 8 p.m. April 25 at Boarders Field at Lahainaluna High School with haumāna of Papa Hula o Lahainaluna and the Boarders Chorus continuing the long-standing school tradition.
The theme this year is “Pākīpika, People of the Pacific,” and the celebration will highlight the Pacific and the roots that connect the people of Polynesia — a theme that resonates with students because Lahaina is a melting pot of cultures and traditions.
The sunset event will feature a pāʻina (dinner) at 5 p.m., followed by the hōʻike (show) at 6 p.m., featuring songs and dances of Polynesia.
Dinner tickets are $25, while the hōʻike is free and open to the public. The event is under the direction of Kumu Eva and Danny Palakiko.
The event will also give classes an opportunity to hold reunions, particularly those with graduation years ending in 1 or 6. Those who have not contacted their class leaders are encouraged to do so. Reserved reunion tables are available on a limited basis with open seating for others.
Dinner tickets can be reserved at bit.ly/2026LHSMalo, by calling Kumu Eva at (808) 276-3267, or by emailing 10034543@k12.hi.us. Callers are asked to leave a clear message with their name and phone number. Payments must be made in cash. A limited number of dinner tickets and T-shirts will also be available for purchase the night of the event.
