A 76-year-old man died in a condominium fire Friday at 100 Ridge Road in Kapalua, according to the Maui Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 2:41 p.m., with crews responding to a blaze in a second-story unit. Firefighters extended hoses to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to neighboring units.

The man, who was the occupant of the unit, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name was not released pending notification of next of kin.

The fire was contained to the unit of origin. Responding units included Engine 11, Engine 3, Ladder 3, Tanker 3, a battalion chief and fire investigators.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
