Maui Health CEO Lynn Fulton will step down from her role, effective May 3, to return to central Illinois and be closer to her family.

Fulton has led Maui Health since January 2024. The organization announced Friday that she will be leaving the private nonprofit health provider.

The Maui Health System is affiliated with Kaiser Permanente and manages Maui Memorial Medical Center, Lanai Community Hospital and Kula Hospital.

The nonprofit credited Fulton’s leadership for fostering a culture grounded in collaboration, growth and respect, while improving patient care outcomes and safety measures and improving its financial performance. Fulton also oversaw staff stabilization measures, as well as advances in recruitment and retention.

“The board of directors is grateful to Lynn for her leadership and for the progress during her tenure,” said Dr. Bechara Choucair, chair of the Maui Health board. “We feel confident that Maui Health is well positioned to continue improving access to care for our patients, supporting our clinicians and staff, and ensuring our mission guides the organization for the communities we serve.”

Fulton expressed her gratitude for working with the leadership team and board members to strengthen Maui Health’s care for the community.

“I am confident the organization will continue to deliver exceptional health care grounded in compassion, dignity and respect,” Fulton said.

Maui Health said a leadership transition plan will be shared in the coming days.
