The Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 has endorsed Mayor Richard Bissen for re-election, according to Bissen’s campaign.

“Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 is proud to stand behind Mayor Bissen in his run for re-election,” said Ana Tuiasosopo, the union’s Hawaii district representative, in a statement.

Bissen said the endorsement is meaningful because his father was a member of the union for 25 years.

“That connection is personal, and it reminds me of the values I was raised with — hard work, fairness and a deep commitment to community,” Bissen said.

The campaign said the endorsement reflects shared priorities that include supporting working families, strengthening infrastructure and addressing housing and workforce needs.
