Roots School receives $10K grant for literacy program
Roots School in Haiku has received a $10,000 grant from the Atherton Family Foundation to support its English Language Arts program and expand early literacy efforts.
School officials said the funding will be used to strengthen classroom instruction and provide additional in-school support for students needing extra help with reading.
Head of School Melita Charan said the grant will allow the school to expand small-group instruction and targeted interventions during the school day. Director of Admissions and Administration Caitlin Mates will also take on the role of reading specialist, working with teachers and students to support literacy development.
Roots School serves students from preschool through fifth grade. More information is available at rootsmaui.org.
