DLNR seeks input on axis deer with online survey
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is asking Maui County residents to participate in a survey about how axis deer are affecting life on Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
The anonymous 15-question survey seeks feedback on environmental, safety and economic impacts caused by deer populations on Maui Nui. Officials said the information will help guide future deer management efforts and identify regional concerns and priorities.
The survey is open through June 30 at tinyurl.com/3tvbtf7h.
State officials estimated there were about 26,000 axis deer on Maui Nui in 2025.
