Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem Foundation awards scholarships to eight Maui students

The Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem Foundation has awarded scholarships to eight Maui student-athletes who will continue their education at colleges and universities across the country.
The foundation awarded eight scholarships worth $3,750 each during a May 14 ceremony at Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center. The scholarships were supported through contributions from Audrey and Scott Blum, Theresa and Paul Brown, Joe Balla and the Harbaugh Foundation.
The scholarship program, established in 2018, has awarded $178,750 to Maui students pursuing higher education in fields aligned with the foundation's goals of promoting academic success, healthy lifestyles and environmental stewardship.
The 2026 recipients are:
Allie Kennedy of Kamehameha Schools Maui, a track and field athlete and pole vaulter, who plans to attend Bryant University and major in sports industries, media and promotion.
Cade Yamada of King Kekaulike, a baseball player, who plans to attend Willamette University and major in kinesiology.
Chase Burnes of King Kekaulike, a surfer, who plans to attend San Diego State University and major in construction engineering.
Kaylee Yagi of Maui High, a weightlifter, who plans to attend the University of Utah and major in architectural engineering.
Layla Merrill of Maui Preparatory Academy, a swimmer and surfer, who plans to attend Brigham Young University and major in environmental science.
Mya Pililaau of Kamehameha Maui, a water polo player and surfer, who plans to attend Tufts University and major in environmental studies.
Sloane Jucker of Maui Preparatory Academy, a surfer and swimmer, who plans to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa and major in biochemistry.
Sunny Davis of Kamehameha Maui, a dancer and track athlete, who plans to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa and major in humanities.
