Lahaina meeting to cover fuel break program, electrical grid hardening work, more

Maui County officials are encouraging residents to attend the county’s monthly Lahaina community meeting at 5:30 p.m. May 6 at the Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria.
Topics will include the Maui Fire Department’s fuel break program, Hawaiian Electric’s planned grid hardening work along the Honoapiilani Highway, updates on the Wahikuli gravity sewer project and ongoing wildfire and storm recovery efforts.
The meeting will include a question-and-answer session, followed by an opportunity for attendees to speak with representatives from county departments and partner agencies.
The community meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. They are livestreamed on the County of Maui’s Facebook page and broadcast on Akaku Maui Community Media, Channel 53.
