Letter carriers to hold Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 9
The National Association of Postal Letter Carriers will be collecting nonperishable food donations from customers on May 9 as part of The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
The event marks the 34th anniversary of the largest one-day food drive in the nation. Donations will go to local food pantries to provide food for people in need.
Currently, more than 47 million Americans are unsure where their next meal will come from, including more than 14 million children, according to the National Association of Postal Letter Carriers. Nearly 7.4 million seniors over age 60 are food insecure, with many who live on fixed incomes often too embarrassed to ask for help.
Customers may verify food collections with their letter carrier or by entering delivery ZIP Code at tinyurl.com/y3x655xf for local NALC Branch coverage in their area.
