Presentation at Kihei-Wailea Rotary, Wednesday, May 20

The Arts Belong Here: Our Youth and Maui Nui Performing Arts Future.

Mr. Barry Kawakami will share how a new program, Wave of Harmony, seeks to influence our keiki in the Arts for generations to come. This 50(c)(3) was among the first organizations responding to the Lahaina fires with school arts programs, scholarships and community productions support.

His Foundation’s mission is to keep performing arts alive in Maui’s public schools as well as on Moloka’i and Lana’i. This Foundation has been anchored by the Gilbert & Aileen Kam Chuck Charitable Trust donating more than $400,000 across eight performing arts programs since 2023. Members of the community and visiting Rotarians are invited to attend.

The presentation will take place at Kihei Charter School, 3rd floor, located at 650 Lipoa Parkway, Kihei, Hawaii 96753. (Mauka of Maui Brewing Company and across the street.) Meeting begins at 1:30 to 2:30, followed by social time with snacks and drinks provided. It is suggested you arrive a bit after 1:15 to park as school lets out at 1:00. Guests may also attend online via zoom. Link is available on mauirotary.org.
