County seeks public input on proposed disaster recovery plan amendment
Maui County is accepting public comments through July 1 on proposed changes to its Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery Action Plan related to the Strategic Voluntary Mitigation Buyout Program.
The county announced Monday that the proposed updates are available for review on the Hoʻokumu Hou recovery website. The public comment period began June 1 following the posting of a public notice required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
According to the county, the proposed amendment would establish a maximum assistance amount per property, create prioritization and tiebreaker criteria for applicants, and align eligible activities with program needs.
The amendment represents the county's second substantial update to its CDBG-DR Action Plan.
The public notice, full amendment and comment form are available at hookumuhou.mauicounty.gov.
