Energy bill assistance applications open for Maui residents

Maui County residents who need help paying their electric bills can apply for assistance through the Hawaii Home Energy Assistance Program during the month of June. According to Hawaiian Electric, the program provides a one-time credit to eligible lower-income households to help offset energy costs. Applications for the annual energy credit program will be accepted through June 30. On Maui, applications are processed by Maui Economic Opportunity. Households may qualify if at least one member receives benefits through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Supplemental Security Income.
