Free spay and neuter clinics planned on Maui

Maui Humane Society and Greater Good Charities will host two free spay and neuter clinics this month aimed at sterilizing hundreds of cats and dogs across Maui.

The first clinic, for cats and dogs, will be June 18-20 at the Maui Preparatory Academy gymnasium in Lahaina. Dog owners must schedule appointments through mauihumanesociety.org/ggc-lahaina. Cat surgeries will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis without appointments. Check-in runs from 7 to 10 a.m. daily or until capacity is reached.

A second clinic for cats only will be June 24-26 at Maui Marketplace, Unit 205, in Kahului. The clinic is open to the public with cats in traps or carriers. Check-in is from 7:30 to 10 a.m. daily or until capacity is reached. More information is available at mauihumanesociety.org/ggc-central.

Organizers said pets receiving surgery will also receive free vaccinations and microchips. The clinics are intended to help reduce unwanted animal populations and address a shortage of local spay and neuter resources following the 2023 Maui wildfires and the closure of the Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation.

For more information, call Maui Humane Society at (808) 877-3680 or email aloha@mauihumanesociety.org.

Starting at $4.80/week.
