A 27-year-old woman was airlifted from Haleakala National Park on June 26 after hurting her ankle while hiking, according to the Maui County Fire Department.

Firefighters were called at 4:12 p.m. to a report of an injured hiker at the Paliku campsite within the park.

Air 1 was used to lift the hiker from the area of the Paliku cabins and transport her to a landing zone at Hosmer Grove, where she was turned over to emergency medical personnel for further evaluation, the department said.

Engine 13 and Rescue 10 aboard Air 1 responded to the incident, which concluded at 6:20 p.m.
