Olivia A. Tom of Makawao has been named as a recipient of a 2026 college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship.

Tom, a Seabury Hall student, received a National Merit Creighton University Scholarship, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corp. The scholarship is part of the National Merit Scholarship Program, which recognizes high-achieving students nationwide. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the sponsoring institution.

Tom was among more than 2,500 students nationwide selected this month for college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships. Winners were chosen from among National Merit finalists who indicated plans to attend the sponsoring college or university.

The college-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners are a part of the roughly 6,700 high school seniors who will receive National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study.
