A 14-year-old Lahaina boy has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault and riot at a West Maui resort earlier this month, bringing the total number of people arrested in the case to eight.
According to Maui police, the teen voluntarily turned himself in Thursday at the Wailuku Police Station. He was arrested on suspicion of riot and later released to his parents after Family Court was notified.
The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into an incident that occurred July 17 at the pool area of the Kaanapali Alii resort.
Police previously arrested a 20-year-old Makawao man on suspicion of second-degree assault, along with six juveniles on suspicion of offenses including riot and second- and third-degree assault. All of the juveniles were released to their parents following processing, while the 20-year-old was released pending investigation.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
