A brush fire burned about 2 acres Thursday night near Waiko Road in the area of Manea Place in Wailuku, according to the Maui Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 7:54 p.m. and found brush and grass burning southwest of Waiko Road. Crews moved concrete barriers to access the area and attacked the flanks of the fire, bringing it under control by 8:15 p.m.

Firefighters remained on scene to mop up hot spots and fully extinguished the fire at 9:30 p.m.

No one was displaced, evacuated or injured, and no structures were threatened. No damage was reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
