Hawaiian Electric to restore steel poles on Maui

Hawaiian Electric will begin work the week of July 6 to restore 32 steel poles along critical transmission lines on Maui Veterans Highway, Pulehu Road and Dairy Road.

The work is part of the utility’s ongoing effort to harden the island’s electrical grid. It is expected to continue through the end of November. No service interruptions are expected.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Work is scheduled from July to September on Maui Veterans Highway from Waiko Road to Mehameha Loop, from July to August on Pulehu Road from Omaopio Road to Holopuni Road, and from September to November on Dairy Road from Hana Highway to Hukilike Street.

Motorists should use caution near work zones and expect possible delays.
