MPD plans impaired driving enforcement for holiday weekend

Maui police will conduct sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various locations during the Fourth of July weekend.

The enforcement campaign will begin July 3 and continue through the holiday weekend, according to MPD. Police said officers will take a zero-tolerance approach to impaired driving as part of an effort to reduce crashes and promote compliance with traffic laws.

MPD is urging motorists to plan a safe way home before drinking, designate a sober driver, use a taxi or car service, or call a sober friend or family member for a ride.

Police also urged the public to report suspected impaired drivers and to prevent friends or family members from driving while impaired.

Starting at $4.80/week.
