One resident has been displaced after a Thursday fire at a home in Wailuku, according to the Maui County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the call on the 1000 block of Alakai Street at 10:21 p.m. and found a single-story home fully engulfed in flames. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and protect neighboring residences.
The fire was brought under control at 11:01 p.m. and extinguished at 1:30 a.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.
The home was undergoing renovations. The cause has not been undetermined, although investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen area.
Engines 1 and 10, Rescue 10, a battalion chief and a fire investigator responded.
