Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen's Holomua Kākou talk-story gathering and drop-in centers on Aug. 17-18 will be rescheduled due to severe weather in this weekend's forecast, according to county officials.
Tropical storm Lala is expected to impact Maui County over the weekend, with the potential for dangerous winds, heavy rain, flooding and large waves. The decision to postpone took the storm into consideration, including possible disruptions to ferry service due to large surf. It also allows residents and county personnel time to assess conditions and respond if necessary.
The county said it recognizes the importance of bringing Holomua Kākou to Lanai and appreciates the community's continued patience and understanding as the visit is rescheduled. New dates will be announced soon.
For more information, Lanai residents may contact the mayorʻs office at (808) 270-7855 or email public.affairs@mauicounty.gov.
