A hiker was airlifted from Twin Falls after falling and injuring his ankle Thursday, according to the Maui County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the call at 12:23 p.m. The man had fallen at a pond above the falls and was unable to walk. Rescue personnel aboard the Air 1 helicopter located the hiker, stabilized his injury and lifted him into the aircraft.
He was flown to a landing zone near Hana Highway and transferred to an emergency medical services unit that took him to Maui Memorial Medical Center.
Engine 2 and Rescue 10 aboard Air 1 responded. The rescue concluded at 1:58 p.m. The man's age and place of residence were not available.
