Lahaina community meeting set for Sept. 2

The Wainee Wildfire Risk Reduction Project and a planned West Maui recycling center will be among the topics discussed during the Lahaina Community Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria.
The Maui Emergency Management Agency will give a presentation on the wildfire risk reduction project, while the Maui County Department of Environmental Management will provide information about the recycling center.
The meeting will also include an update on the 'Ulu O Lele interim marketplace from Hawaiian Council and updates from the Maui County Office of Recovery on housing and the Ho'okumu Hou programs.
Representatives from county departments and other organizations will be available at resource tables following a question-and-answer session. Participating organizations will include the Office of Recovery, Department of Environmental Management, Maui Emergency Management Agency, 4LEAF, Hawaiian Electric, Hawaiian Council and Hoʻōla iā Mauiakama Disaster Long Term Recovery Group.
The meeting will be livestreamed on Maui County's Facebook page and broadcast on Akakū: Maui Community Media, Channel 53.
