Maui County Council seeks volunteers for boards and commissions; applications due Monday

The Maui County Council is seeking residents to serve on a number of boards and commissions, including the Board of Water Supply and Public Works Commission, County Council Chair Alice Lee announced Thursday.

"We are seeking volunteers willing to contribute their time and knowledge in shaping policy and planning Maui County's future," Lee said in a news release. "This form of service and participation is an opportunity for residents to have a direct voice in their local government."

The County Council is authorized to fill the vacancies by adopting resolutions at its Aug. 25 meeting. Applications can be downloaded at mauicounty.us/great/ and should be sent via email to county.council@mauicounty.us. The deadline is noon Monday.

The positions include the Affirmative Action Advisory Council; Board of Variances and Appeals; Board of Water Supply; Dangerous Dog Adjudication and Appeals Board; Commission on Persons with Disabilities; Fire and Public Safety Commission (Molokai residents only); Housing Advisory Board; Independent Nomination Board; and Kula Agricultural Park Committee.

Other open positions are available on the Liquor Control Adjudication Board; Molokai Planning Commission; Public Works Commission; Public Works Commission; Urban Design Review Board; and Urban Design Review Board.
