Property owners negatively impacted by Tropical Storm Lala may apply for a one-time extension of the fiscal year 2026-27 real property tax payment deadline through Sept. 20, Mayor Richard Bissen announced Wednesday.
For those not impacted, the real property tax payment deadline is Aug. 20, 2026.
To be approved, property owners need to submit a County of Maui Department of Finance Treasury Tax Division application that describes impacts and provides location and other details by Sept. 20. The department will defer payment, tax penalty and interest if approved.
Details of deferral application include:
• The deferral only applies to fiscal year 2026-27 taxes due on Aug. 20.
• Applications must be filed with the Treasury Division by Sept. 20.
• All approved deferrals for fiscal year 2026-27 taxes due on Aug. 20 must be paid in full by Sept. 20 to avoid penalty and interest.
For more information visit www.mauipropertytax.com or contact the Treasury Division at (808) 270-7697. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) at the Maui County Service Center, 110 ʻAlaʻihi St., Suite 108, Kahului.
