A 16-year-old Lahaina boy was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of riot in connection with an assault and riot last month at a West Maui resort.
The latest arrest is the ninth reported by police in connection with the July 17 incident at Kā'anapali Ali'i, a luxury beachfront condominium and resort at 50 Nohea Kai Drive.
Eight juveniles ranging in age from 14 to 17 -- including four 14-year-olds -- and a 20-year-old Makawao man have now been arrested during the investigation.
The 16-year-old was released to the custody of his parents after processing and consultation with Family Court, police said.
Previous arrests include a 14-year-old Lahaina boy arrested July 30 on suspicion of riot; a 14-year-old Lahaina boy, a 14-year-old Lahaina girl and a 17-year-old Lahaina girl arrested July 28; and a 14-year-old Lahaina boy, a 16-year-old Wailuku boy and a 16-year-old Lahaina boy arrested July 27.
The 20-year-old Makawao man was previously arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and released pending investigation.
