About 1,900 Maui County customers remained without power Tuesday afternoon following Hurricane Lala, Hawaiian Electric reported.

Crews were focusing on outages in Haiku and Peahi, along with smaller pockets in Upcountry, Kahului, Lahaina and East Maui. Six of nine transmission and subtransmission lines affected by the storm had been restored as of Aug. 18.

Hawaiian Electric expects to restore service to 95% of affected customers statewide by Friday, except in remote or severely damaged areas of Hawaii Island.

Maui County customers whose neighbors have had power restored but remain without service should report the outage at 1-855-304-8181. Updates are available at hawaiianelectric.com.
