Employees at Avis at Kahului Airport recently collected 148 items for Maui Humane Society as part of a donation drive marking the rental car company's 80th anniversary.
The two-week drive nearly doubled the team's original goal of collecting 80 items. Donations included toys, animal care products and other supplies for shelter animals awaiting adoption.
"We have a lot of pet lovers, so it was a big, huge thing for us to support the shelter," said Antoinette Campbell, a 10-year Avis employee who helped organize the effort.
The donations will support the daily care and enrichment of animals at the shelter.
