A community donation drive is collecting nonperishable food items such as rice, pasta, canned goods, instant ramen, instant rice and canned meats, as well as supplies for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui's after-school programs.
Engel & Völkers Maui is partnering with the nonprofit organization for the drive. Requested supplies include board games, puzzles, pingpong balls, youth activity kits, art supplies and scissors.
This year's Keys to Community initiative is a brokerage-wide effort to help address food insecurity among local families, including those in the Hale Makana neighborhood in Wailuku.
"Food insecurity doesn't take a break, and neither can we," said LaTasha Baldwin, a real estate adviser with Engel & Völkers Maui and organizer of the initiative. "Every family in our community deserves to know where their next meal is coming from. This initiative is our way of putting our network and our platform to work for families right here in Wailuku."
Through Oct. 20, donations may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at Engel & Völkers Maui, 1993 S. Kihei Road, Suite 20, in Kihei, or at Wailuku Beauty Collective, 1827 Wells St. in Wailuku.
Donations will benefit Maui families served by Big Brothers Big Sisters and support the organization's after-school programming.
